Following the success of the inaugural Edinburgh Deaf Festival, we are delighted to announce it will be back next year, taking place from Friday 11 to Sunday 20 August 2023.

Organised by Deaf Action, this year’s festival was a celebration of deaf culture, language and identity. With over 100 performances including comedy, theatre, cabaret, and heritage tours, the festival put deaf performers centre stage for all to see.  We welcomed both deaf and hearing audiences to experience some of the best that our community has to offer, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year.

Philip Gerrard, CEO of Deaf Action said: “We have achieved something truly ground-breaking and sowed the seed from which the celebration of deaf arts and BSL can continue to grow in Scotland. I am thrilled the festival will be returning in 2023 after the astounding success of this year’s festival.”

The announcement of the 2023 dates highlights our commitment to delivering an accessible festival season; something the deaf community can call their own, while introducing deaf culture and arts to a mainstream audience.

2023’s festival will build on the success of this year, providing opportunities for deaf artists and performers to showcase their talents, while placing the community and all it has to offer centre stage.
