Safe & Sound

Supporting landlords and deaf tenants

Safe & Sound offers Scottish landlords and deaf tenants equal access
to information and advice on the property rental market.

Know your rights as a tenant

Our BSL videos make information around property rental accessible for deaf people. Get guidance on deposits, and what to do in the event of a dispute. Check out our range of BSL videos here.

Expert advice

We can offer expert advice on renting, from communicating with your landlord, to deposits and disputes. Our team also can advise on safety and security measures for deaf tenants, including guidance on smoke detectors, Co2 alarms and doorbells.

Interpreter access

We can provide funded BSL/English interpreters throughout 2022 to improve communication between tenants and landlords.

Interpreters can help at every stage of the rental process, from advertising properties, agreeing terms, responding to emergency repairs, through to disputes and problem solving.

Specialist equipment

If you are deaf and rent your home, our team of expert engineers can supply and install specialist equipment. Our equipment and installation services are designed to improve your independence and quality of life at home.
