Although we are aware that pubs and public places are gradually opening their doors to the public, we have decided to not open Deaf Action’s building to the public yet. This means that our clubs, like the Golden Amber Club on Thursdays and Edinburgh Deaf Sports and Social Club on Saturdays, will not take place for the foreseeable future.

This is mostly because it is very difficult to make sure everyone visiting our building stays safe by following distancing and hygienic measures, as well as the fact that the majority of our visitors fall in the category that is most ‘at risk’ of getting the virus. We want to protect our communities and therefore have decided to keep our doors closed.

As soon as the First Minister announces that Scotland moves to Phase 4 of the roadmap out of lockdown, we will review the opening times of Deaf Action’s building.

In the mean time, we understand that this decision might be difficult for the members of our *deaf communities who might feel isolated. Please feel free to contact our online befriender service for informal conversations with other *deaf people: befriending@deafaction.org

Many of our services are still taking place, for an overview please visit our services page.
