Interpreting Duty Service

Available in the following locations:
  • City of Edinburgh
  • West Lothian

Customer notice: Our Interpreting Drop-in service on Tuesday 30th of Oct has been cancelled and we will alternatively be offering a drop in service on Monday 29th 14:00 – 16:00 instead. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will return to normal service the following week.

Drop In Service

Drop In services are provided by Deaf Action on behalf of City of Edinburgh Council and West Lothian Council.

Interpreting sessions provide communication free of charge and are used for help with:

  • Making telephone calls
  • Writing letters
  • Explaining letters
  • Completing some forms
  • Council contact for council tax, water collection, building repair etc

Contact us to make an appointment or call in to the Edinburgh office or West Lothian venue at the arranged times below. If you are an Edinburgh / West Lothian resident you do not need to book an appointment but appointment slots are available.  Please note, appointments must be booked by SMS, textphone or email.  No appointments will be given through Facebook messenger.

Please remember BSL/English Interpreters are not allowed to say what they think or give an opinion. If you are looking for advice or support our Social Work Drop In sessions may be more suitable.
