Equipment funded by your Council

Available in the following locations:
  • Aberdeenshire
  • Edinburgh and The Lothians

The Specialist Equipment Service is funded by the Local Authorities of Aberdeenshire, the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian.

To qualify for this service, you must be a deaf* BSL user, a hearing aid user or have a hearing loss diagnosis from a medical professional (Audiologist or hearing therapist).  As long as you meet this criteria, the service is free of charge.  The equipment we provide is given out on a ‘permanent loan’ which means it is yours for as long as you need it.  In the event the equipment is no longer required, it should be returned to us.

Our equipment team specialise in assessing your needs and demonstrating what equipment is available to assist you. We can then install it in your home and take you through a step by step guide in making the most out of your new product. We’re also here to help with any problems you may experience with your equipment and to fix or repair products as needed.

You can arrange a visit to one of our Display Rooms where you can try out our equipment and decide what works best for you before taking it home. We’re a registered BT Try Before You Buy Centre so you can be sure you get to handle and view equipment in a sales free, pressure free environment.
