DEAF 'R' US
A new weekly baby, toddler and parent group is now held at Deaf Action's
Head Office each Thursday from 11.00am - 3.00pm. All welcome.
SCOTTISH DEAF HISTORY
The Scottish Council on Deafness is hosting an Open Meeting on Scottish
Deaf History in Glasgow on Saturday 19 April, 11am - 3pm, at Deaf Connections
in Glasgow. John and Gordon Hay of the British Deaf History Society will
be in attendance. The meeting is open to anyone and everyone with an interest
in Deaf History. Tea and coffee will be provided. Contact SCoD for further

DEAF AWARENESS WEEK
Deaf Action will be one of the many organisations promoting services
for deaf people at information days during deaf awareness week 2008. The
events, held on Wednesday 7th May at Musselburgh Racecourse and
Friday 9th May at St Mary's Cathedral Hall, Edinburgh, will
provide information on equipment, lip-reading, tinnitus, guidance &
support, hearing aids, learning opportunities and much more. The events
are free and open from 10am - 4pm. Refreshments will be provided.
BRITISH SOCIETY FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND DEAFNESS
The BSMHD's Annual Conference - Developing Professional Mental Health
Services for Deaf People - will be held in Edinburgh on 16th & 17th
May at the Thistle Hotel, 107 St James Centre. This two-day multi-disciplinary
conference is for all mental health professionals and those in allied
professions who work with deaf people. Lilian Lawson OBE, Chief Executive
of SCoD will Chair the Conference.
DeaF.A. CUP
Doncaster College for the Deaf has organised a 5-a-side football tournament
for men and women on Saturday 17th May. Entrance fee is £50 per
team with a maximum of 7 players. There will be T-shirts for everyone
involved, a trophy and prizes to win! Food will be available on the day
and the F.A. cup final will be shown on a large screen in the bar in the

IT'S A KNOCKOUT!
Looking for a fun-filled afternoon for all your friends and family?
Contact Doncaster College for the Deaf and take part in It's a Knockout
on Sunday 18th May. Each team should consist of 10 people and costs £50
per team to enter. A free full english breakfast will be available for
each team at 11am, with T-shirts, prizes and medals for everyone. Event

MOUNTAIN-BIKING
Deaf Action's NHS Project has organised a mountain-bike event led by Crawford
Carrick-Anderson (Crawfy) at Glentress Forest near Peebles on Sunday 27th
April. The event is FREE and riders should arrive at Glentress no later
than 10am and meet at the Hub Shop near the car park on the left. Riders
should have some experience of mountainbike trails and be over 17 years
old. There are only 10 places so book early to avoid disappointment. For
