Deaf Connections Close their doors

We were extremely saddened to hear the news of Glasgow based Deaf Connections’ closure on Thursday 28th of September after being placed into liquidation. Deaf Connections have provided vital services to *deaf people in the West of Scotland for almost two centuries and we admire the work they provided for their community.

Philip Gerrard CEO Deaf Action stated: ‘With many cuts in public sector funding, deaf organisations across the UK have been forced to close their doors over the last few years leaving the deaf community vulnerable. We remain committed to delivering an equal and better future for deaf people and will continue to adapt to the changing funding landscape’.

The closure of Deaf Connections will have a huge impact on the deaf community in Glasgow. Where it is possible, we will offer support to those affected. All of our services are not affected and running as usual.

*deaf includes people who are Deaf BSL users, deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing
